Butterflies and Ivy

Once again my camera is acting up and giving everything a yellow tinge.

This cake was for a first birthday party. I love the non-traditional choices of this client. The cake is buttercream with royal icing morning glories and butterflies. I hand painted the butterflies.

Daddy/Daughter Birthday

I was asked to do a cake for a dad and daughter that had the same birthday. The main cake was going to be a surprise for the dad (who thought it was being ordered for his daughter) since he was turning the ripe old age of 30. I had fun doing this one!

This is his daughter's cupcake:

Let It Snow

Trees made out of sugar cones and frosting kids top this cake.

Forty? Oh No!!

You can't let a 40th go by quietly, can you?

Hunting Cakes

Here's where I hate on my regular camera for a bit and its lack of zooming. I "borrowed" the deer figures from a Christmas cake idea- I hope Santa doesn't mind!

E-I-E-I-O

In my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, we had a meeting on childrens' party ideas. Our group had boy/girl party and decided to use a farm theme. The barn and haystacks are cake. I was going to toast coconut and use that on the ground, but a family emergency happened and my brain wasn't totally with the cake after that.

Baptism

I did this one for a child's baptism. In our Church, you can be baptized at age 8 on up.

Hawaii

This volcano cake was fun, even if it was a beast to put together. I did this for a Cub Scout Blue and Gold, as well as Caleb's end of year party. This one has the volcano covered in fondant, which was easier than covering it with buttercream. The inside holds a juice glass that I put dry ice in and added water for the smoke.
This little guy was fun, although keeping the pretzel stick upright wasn't. Liesie "helped" me with this cake by tasting the frosting on the side. I had used all of my blue, and anyone who does cakes will tell you that matching frosting is a beast. I came up with a wave effect made up of a royal blue, white, and sky blue mixed gently together. It turned out better than the straight blue I had before. I used the same technique for the lava on the volcano. Thanks Liesie!
