Carnations

This cake is a white cake with lemon filling and 7 minute frosting. I did royal icing carnations in 3 shades of pink. I don't think I've done carnations since my cake class 15 years ago. I love their look!

Rose and Stephanotis Wedding Cake

This was my first wedding cake in a loooong time. I can't tell you how nervous I was. I fretted about everything- I redid the roses 3 times. The cake is yellow cake with whipped ganache filling, covered with buttercream. I also did gum paste for the first time- I figured I'd start out easy with the white stephanotis:

Which was good because I made 27 dozen of them!

Bridal Shower

A buttercream cake I did for a bridal shower. The bride's colours are fuschia and tangerine.

Daisy Birthday

Mischa was nice to me for her birthday this year- I couldn't get her to get anything more detailed or complicated than this. She did agree to the addition of edible glitter for the center of the flowers, though. No girl turns down sparkles.

Roses on Your Birthday

This is the cake that is my blog header and my new business cards (thanks, Marchet!)

50th Anniversary

I helped a nephew's wife make this for my in-law's 50th anniversary.

Fresh Flowers

I got to buy a new floating tiers set for this one- I guess this is the cake decorator's equivalent to power tools for men. I used fresh flowers and a basket weave on the side.

Wedding

Violets and roses.

Roses

I love roses and rosebuds.

Not All Wedding Cakes Are Tall

I did this cake for my sister-in-law. She had a very Victorian wedding dress, and I tried to reflect the romance of the era with ivy and roses that started out ivory and turned peach at the tops. The trellises attaching the cakes are made out of royal icing.

My Mom's Cake Modeling Debut

I can't remember if this was for my mom's birthday or her college graduation. The sides are basket weave, with violets, wild apple blossoms, and lilies on the top.

Spring Flowers

Daffodils, daisies, and violets- oh my!

Triple Birthday

Our girls have a triple birthday party every year- their birthdays are a week apart, and they have a cousin about an hour away whose birthday is 2 days before Liesie's (actually 363 days after). Since we all go to my dad's for the party, we need the 3 cakes. The hard part is trying to co-ordinate all of the cakes and still keep them small enough that 3 isn't too much cake. This theme was pastels- yellow, pink, and purple. Mischa and Liesie had a separate party with a friend's family, and since I was caked out, I made cupcakes instead and topped them with the leftover roses.
